SUNDAYS AT 9:55AM

Who We Are

MINISTER

Rev. Samuel Mavundu joined our pastoral charge in March 2025, bringing a warm heart for ministry and a deep commitment to helping people grow in faith. Through preaching, teaching, discipleship, mission, and pastoral care, Samuel offers thoughtful leadership rooted in inclusion, spiritual growth, and practical expressions of God’s love.

Originally from Zimbabwe, Samuel holds a Master’s degree in Religious Studies. He is married and a proud father of two daughters and a son. His global experience and care for people continue to shape his passion for compassionate outreach, hands-on service, and building communities where faith is lived out in meaningful ways.

Samuel’s mission is simple and clear: to follow Jesus and help others grow as disciples who share God’s love, serve their communities, and encourage others in faith. He is dedicated to helping both Christians and non-Christians grow as disciples who make disciples.

Outside of ministry, Samuel enjoys staying active and connected to the world around him. He is an avid soccer player who values the teamwork and camaraderie of the game, finds peace in fishing, and loves exploring new places through travel. Whether on the soccer field, by the water, or discovering a new destination, Samuel embraces every opportunity to learn, grow, and connect.

MUSIC DIRECTOR

Myrna has served Vasey United and now Unity United for over 50 years as Musical Director, leading the church’s music ministry with dedication and heart. Myrna directs the choir and provides worship music on piano and organ, helping to create meaningful and uplifting services.

Outside of church, Myrna lives on an active dairy farm, where she helps when needed. She spent forty years working in the health care field as a registered nurse. In retirement, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, camping, travelling, quilting, and gardening.

Myrna is grateful for the opportunity to serve and believes music is a powerful expression of faith, unity, and spiritual connection. She has been a lifelong member of the United Church for more than 60 years.

She is the person who ensures that we all know what is happening at Unity United through The Heartbeat – our weekly newsletter. If you have news to spread contact her and let he know so it can be added to next weeks addition.

Her free time is spent gardening, volunteering at the local Hospice, spending time with her young family and experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes!

Charlotte is delighted to be part of the Community here at Unity United Church.
